How to Program a DIRECTV Universal Remote

This guide covers how to program a DIRECTV-branded universal remote to control your TV or other devices. Whether you’re setting it up for the first time or reprogramming it after a reset, follow the simple steps below.


Programming Instructions:

1. Turn on the device you want to control (TV, soundbar, etc.).

2. On your DIRECTV remote, press and hold the MUTE and SELECT buttons at the same time.

3. Wait until the indicator light at the top of the remote blinks twice, then release the buttons.

4. Enter the code for your device using the number pad.

5. The light should blink twice again, confirming the code was accepted.

6. Test the remote to make sure it controls the device correctly.


If it doesn’t work, repeat the steps using a different code.
