If you were an existing DIRECTV customer and switched to EmpireTV as your new dealer of record, the process—known as PTR or change of ownership—ensures a smooth transition. During this process, DIRECTV will transfer your account to EmpireTV, which will then begin billing you under EmpireTV. At the same time, billing from the previous provider (the losing carrier) should stop automatically.
However, if your old TV provider used third-party billing—meaning they intercepted your DIRECTV bill and sent their own invoice—they may continue billing you even after DIRECTV stops. In these cases, it’s a good idea to contact your old provider directly to confirm that billing has been stopped.
