One TV Has Bad Picture? Here’s How to Fix It

Troubleshooting Guide for When Only One TV Has Poor or No Signal

If you’re seeing bad picture quality or no signal on just one TV—while the rest are working fine—this is usually a local issue at that specific outlet. It could be a loose connection, a bad cable, or a faulty wall plate. Luckily, this is often a quick and easy fix.

Below are step-by-step troubleshooting instructions to help you resolve the issue.

Step 1: Check for Loose Connections

Make sure the coax cable is tightly screwed into both: the wall plate and the back of the TV. Gently twist to see if either end is loose or wobbly.

Step 2: Try Replacing the Coax Cable

Swap the current coax cable with a new one. Sometimes the cable itself is faulty or damaged.

Step 3: Replace the Coax Wall Plate

🔧 You’ll need the following:

A Phillips screwdriver

A replacement coax wall plate

A basic coax crimping kit (includes the tool and new connectors)

📺 What to Do:

1. Unscrew the existing wall plate from the wall using your screwdriver.

2. Unscrew the coax cable from the back of the plate.

3. If the cable end is damaged, cut and re-crimp it using the crimping kit above.

4. Attach the cable to your new wall plate, then screw the plate back into the wall.

5. Reconnect your TV to the new wall plate.
